Centennial Ball

Centennial Ball at Forest Hills

On Saturday, July 27, the Borough of Forest Hills celebrated their 100 year anniversary with a Centennial Ball.

The celebration was a 1920’s themed ball and was hosted by Juniper Village at Forest Hills. The event featured a costume ball, delicious food, 1920’s jazz style musical entertainment by the Roger Barbour Band along with a display of three Model A Fords by the Pittsburgh Area Model A Club.  Over 50 community members, council members and elected officials gathered to celebrate Forest Hills’ rich history and its impact on the world.

Forest Hills was incorporated on July 29, 1919 and is best known for being the birthplace of radio, with the first radio broadcast from KDKA,  and the Westinghouse Atom Smasher. The Centennial Ball was just one of the numerous family and community events that were held throughout the year commemorating Forest Hills 100th Anniversary.
