Each month, residents of Juniper Village at Forest Hills get together to make something to donate to various causes.
Recently, residents gathered to decorate and fill 24 welcome bags with snacks to be sent to Pittsburgh’s Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House Charities is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children by providing the opportunity for families to be by their ill child’s bedside, understanding that keeping families together is better for everyone. The welcome bags are given to families to enjoy while staying with their ill child. On Tuesday, April 2nd, Resident Council Representative Honey Meglio, accompanied by Connections Associate Lisa Ross, took a trip to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Pittsburgh to deliver welcome bags that were assembled. They were greeted by Pittsburgh House Concierge, Nancy, who graciously accepted the bags and offered to take Honey and Lisa on a tour of the top floor of the RMH. Nancy pointed out that out of the 360 Ronald McDonald Houses that exist, the one in Pittsburgh is the only one attached to a hospital. It boasts 70 suites, being able to accommodate 70 families who can stay up to one year. Honey said she greatly enjoyed the tour and was impressed by the cleanliness and offerings of the RMH. They finished the trip with a drive-thru stop – appropriately – at McDonald’s.
